Sandhi Prakash Ragas

Sandhi Prakash Ragas are a group of Ragas which are performed at dusk or early evening. This album contains the rendition of Raga Poorvi, Raga Madhuvanti and Dadra in Maand – all are Sandhi Prakash Ragas. The first track presents Raga Poorvi in both Vilambit (slow composition) and Drut (fast composition). Bandish of Vilambit Ektaal is ‘Mai Tende Wariayan’ and that of Drut Teentaal is ‘Piya Navelra Paya’. As Raga Poorvi comes to an end, the second track presenting Raga Madhuvanti begins to cast a spell. Bandish is ‘Unhi So Mori Lagan Lagi Rey’, composed by legendary Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan, the father of Ghulam Abbas Khan. The album ends with the rendition of Dadra in Maand, composed by the artist himself. Its bandish is ‘Kahe Roothey Sanwariya Hum Se’. Maand is a traditional folk Raga sung in Rajasthan. Ghulam Abbas Khan has presented these Sadhi Prakash Ragas with true Rampur - Sahaswan Gharana Gayaki.

Sandhi Prakash raga by Ustad Ghulam Abbas Kha

I am so delighted to listen the rendition of Raga Purvi and Madhuvanti by Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan. I think he a better representer of his Gharana than Ustad rashid Khan who always copied pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Amir Khan sab. Ghulam Abbas Khan's range is amazing. I colnd find that much range...who can attempt ati taar saptak. God bles this artist anf congrats to your company who is promoting such a great talent.
